PILOT TRAINING

Our club provides a structured pilot training program to all new members leading to the award of CCMAC Club Wings. This is the minimum requirement for all members to fly solo at our field. Training is provided by experienced club members using a buddy box system which enables instruction to be undertaken in a safe and supportive manner. To be awarded their wings, trainees must achieve competency in a range of basic flying skills equivalent to that required for the award of a silver wings rating by our club's parent organisation, the Model Aeronautical Association of Australia (MAAA). Our Club Wings are presented in the form of a Club Wings cap, and qualifies members to fly any fixed wing model up to 7kgs in weight at our club, and as a visitor at any other MAAA affiliated club (at their discretion). Members who wish to also obtain a separate Silver wings qualification offered by MAAA, or their more advanced Gold wings, may do so by being assessed by a qualified MAAA instructor. MAAA wings are presented in the form of a wings badge (silver or gold). This process can be organised by our club, and also enables members to compete in MAAA endorsed flying competitions across the country.
